Jomalig Island is located in the north eastern most part of the Quezon Province. It’s not the typical island that offers white sand but that aspect made it amazingly unique and interesting to visit. It is known for its golden sand that somehow got its famous label as “The Golden Island of Quezon”. This island is the newest attraction to look forward by the beach lover and island hoppers. It gained its popularity just this year 2016 thru social media pages and blog articles. The island now has its own stone-made label (JOMALIG ISLAND) situated in the coastline to welcome the tourists.
Jomalig Island is rich in Pine Trees (just like in Anawangin, Zambales) and has pristine clear water. The island is well maintained and not over populated. It’s a place where you can feel the presence of peace and relaxation with your family and friends. It is also near in the famous Polillio Group of Islands. It is 6 hours away from its jump-off area in Real, Quezon.

Golden Sand
(!) How to get there (!)
Take a ride in LRT 2 and drop off at Legarda Station, fare is Php 30.00. Look for the terminal of bus that is bound for Real, Quezon, fare is Php 195.00 and will take 4 hours travel time. From Real, just walk for you to reach the Ungos Port. Take a passenger boat going to Jomalig Island in the said port, roundtrip fare is Php 600.00 per head.

(!) Transportation Tips (!)
  • ·     The best months to visit Jomalig Island is from March – May because it is summer, the ocean is calm and not that hard for the fishermen to travel with their boats.
  • ·  Better if you’re in a group tour to lessen the expense in availing a boat for island hopping.
  • ·     Don’t worry if you’re hungry but still in the boat, there are meals aboard for the tourists. But don’t expect too much from it and don’t be too picky.
  • ·   Don’t dare to visit the island during rainy season and “Ber” months because of the high waves.

Jomaligins is the term used for the existing local people of Jomalig Island, they are actually very accommodating and friendly to everyone. There are few small stores here where you can buy some basic necessities such as rice, can goods and mineral water. You can also avail a room accommodation if you don’t have your own tent. Electricity starts at 6PM up to 1AM only.
