Nagpatong Rock Formation |
Mt. Paliparan is the newest hiking destination in Tanay, Rizal located in the town of Brgy. Cuyambay and it was opened to hiking activities in April 2016. This mountain is another travel destination to look forward by the outdoor enthusiasts. It was named after the early practice of kite-flying activities, either for a contest or just for fun by the local Dumagats youth. The municipality of Tanay is now becoming a haven of outdoor activities that offers minor to extreme adventures.
The trail seems like to be wild since it's not yet well-established . Mt. Paliparan is considered as a minor climb but in need of rock precautionary measures (very technical). It requires 2 - 3 hours to reach the summit (Peak 2) depending on the situation or the person itself. Mt. Paliparan's adventure includes rock climbing (Nagpatong Rock Formation), chasing waterfalls (Tung-tong Falls), cave exploration and the scenic views of Pililla Windmills and a part of Laguna de Bay. The terrain features grassy slopes, mango farm, limestone rocks, a bit of forest/woodland ambiance and cogon. Touy, a Dumagat Village is also a must see place here.
How to get there: Ride a jeepney (Php 24.00) or van (Php 35.00) in Cubao (Gateway/ Puregold) going to Cogeo Gate 2 (Antipolo), 1 hr. travel time. Once in Cogeo, ride another jeepney going to Brgy. Cuyambay (junction) , fare is Php 48.00 (1 hr.) Ride a habal-habal going to Brgy. Hall (jump-off area of Mt. Paliparan), fare is Php 25.00 per person (5-10 mins. only).
